Flooring Products – Vinyl Floors

Vinyl flooring has evolved over the years alongside all other flooring. Many conventional vinyl floors used to have a felt backing which could crack during installation and permit bacteria and mold to grow on the backing. The new vinyl products on the market are made of vinyl and fibreglass and are very flexible and stable making it easier to install in tight places. The manufacturers are coming out with dazzling colours and patterns that emulate real stone and wood that can fool the experienced eye.

Congoleum

Congoleum’s Air step products’ advantages come from their UltraTec construction. Rather than a fiber glass inner liner, Air Step uses a felt inner liner, which allows for the small amount of size change necessary with natural temperature changes. The products are back coated with the same amount of vinyl that is used on the top layer allowing the product to remain flat when loose laid.

Having the option to loose lay a resilient sheet floor is a huge installation technological advancement. Floating floors can hide subfloor irregularities more so than the traditional glue gown installation. UltraTec as a technology has greatly improved the resilient sheet market and installation as we know it today.
